Account Executive Resume Examples: Quota, ACV, Pipeline, and Proof
July 30, 2026 · ResuAI Editorial

An account executive resume is not a list of sales activities. Hiring managers already know an AE runs discovery, gives demos, negotiates, and updates Salesforce. They are trying to answer a more expensive question: what kind of revenue number can this person reliably carry here?
Your resume needs to make the selling environment legible. Quota attainment without quota size is incomplete. Revenue without segment is hard to calibrate. “Closed enterprise deals” without average contract value (ACV) or sales-cycle length could mean almost anything.
The strongest AE resumes prove five facts quickly: attainment, quota or booked revenue, ACV, sales cycle, and segment. Then they show how the result happened—pipeline creation, multithreading, partner motion, expansion, or win-rate improvement. For a polished role-page layout, see the sales account executive resume example once you have the raw evidence below.
What an AE resume must prove
1. Quota attainment with denominator
“Achieved 121% of quota” is useful. “Booked $1.82M against a $1.5M new-ARR quota (121%)” is better because the reader can compare the number with their own patch. Include annual attainment when available, then add quarterly consistency if it helps: “exceeded quarterly quota in 7 of 8 quarters.”
Do not average a strong quarter into a heroic annual percentage. Sales leaders know how attainment works, and inflated math is easy to expose in a screen.
2. Deal economics
Name ACV, total contract value (TCV), or average deal size—and label the metric correctly. A three-year $300K contract is not $300K ACV if only $100K recurs each year. If your company tracks annual recurring revenue (ARR), use that. If it sells services or one-time contracts, booked revenue may be the honest measure.
3. Segment and buyer
SMB, mid-market, and enterprise selling are different jobs wearing the same title. State the segment, typical company size, geography, vertical, and buyer level where useful: “sold cybersecurity SaaS to 500–2,000-employee financial-services companies, multithreading from security operations to CISO.”
4. Sales-cycle complexity
A 21-day SMB cycle tests volume and discipline. A 10-month enterprise cycle tests consensus building, procurement navigation, security review, and executive alignment. Put the median or typical sales cycle on the page, plus the steps you owned if the role involved technical validation, legal, or procurement.
5. Tech stack with context
A stack list helps ATS matching, but tools are not achievements. “Salesforce, Gong, Outreach, Clari” proves exposure. A bullet such as “used Gong call analysis to rebuild discovery and lift stage-two conversion from 32% to 44%” proves application. Include only platforms you can discuss comfortably.

That skeleton works because the summary supplies calibration before the reader reaches the job history. The first two bullets prove production and deal shape. The next bullets explain pipeline source, conversion, buying committee, and forecast discipline. Nothing important is buried in an adjective.
Account executive bullet examples by segment
Use these as patterns. A strong bullet combines a result, scope, and method; the achievement-bullet guide explains the mechanics in more detail.
SMB account executive bullets
SMB bullets should signal pace, repeatability, conversion, and self-sourced pipeline.
- Closed 184 new customers and $1.14M in ARR against a $960K annual quota (119%) while managing a 23-day median sales cycle
- Increased win rate from qualified opportunity to closed-won from 24% to 31% by replacing generic demos with three industry-specific workflows
- Generated $410K in self-sourced ARR through 1:1 outbound to recently funded companies, accounting for 36% of total bookings
- Ran an average of 52 discovery calls and 31 demos per month while maintaining 95% completion of same-day CRM notes and next steps
- Reduced no-show rate from 18% to 9% by adding pre-call value summaries and automated SMS reminders through Outreach
- Expanded 47 first-year customers by $286K ARR through 60-day adoption reviews and usage-triggered cross-sell plays
- Finished above monthly quota in 10 of 12 months and ranked second of 18 AEs for annual logo acquisition
Mid-market account executive bullets
Mid-market bullets should show stronger discovery, multiple stakeholders, competitive control, and predictable forecasting.
- Booked $2.06M in new ARR against a $1.8M quota (114%) across 31 wins at $66K average ACV
- Shortened median cycle from 112 days to 87 by aligning technical validation, security review, and commercial negotiation to a mutual action plan
- Built $3.4M in qualified pipeline from self-sourced accounts, partner referrals, and dormant-opportunity reactivation; converted $1.02M to closed-won
- Lifted competitive win rate from 29% to 41% by documenting decision criteria and securing executive-sponsor access before proposal stage
- Closed a $240K ACV analytics platform deal across eight stakeholders after a 14-week proof of value and two rounds of procurement review
- Partnered with two SDRs on account prioritization and messaging, increasing accepted opportunities from 17 to 29 per quarter
- Held forecast variance below 10% for five consecutive quarters by enforcing stage-exit criteria in Salesforce and reviewing slip risk weekly
Enterprise account executive bullets
Enterprise bullets should make complexity visible: account strategy, multithreading, executive access, procurement, partners, and long-cycle control.
- Closed $3.8M in new ARR against a $3.2M enterprise quota (119%), including four net-new logos above $500K ACV
- Won the company’s largest healthcare deal at $1.1M ACV after an 11-month cycle involving 17 stakeholders, security assessment, legal redlines, and board approval
- Expanded a strategic account from $420K to $980K ARR in 18 months by mapping four business units and sequencing two executive-sponsored use cases
- Created account plans for 22 named enterprises representing $14M in whitespace, producing $5.6M in qualified pipeline and $2.1M closed-won
- Recovered a stalled $760K opportunity by rebuilding the business case with the CFO sponsor and negotiating a phased three-year deployment
- Co-sold with AWS and two regional systems integrators on six opportunities, closing three for $1.4M combined ARR
- Improved stage-three-to-close conversion from 21% to 34% by implementing MEDDPICC reviews and disqualifying deals without a confirmed champion
These examples are deliberately specific, but specificity must be true. If you cannot disclose a customer name, describe the account without pretending secrecy is a credential: “top-five U.S. property insurer” is enough when accurate.
AE metrics cheat sheet
Choose metrics that reflect your sales motion. You do not need every row.
| Metric | What to show | Strong resume phrasing |
|---|---|---|
| Quota attainment | Percentage plus quota amount and period | “Booked $1.82M vs. $1.5M FY quota (121%)” |
| ARR or revenue | New, expansion, renewal, or total | “Closed $2.1M net-new ARR” |
| ACV / TCV | Average, range, or largest deal | “$84K average ACV; largest at $310K” |
| Sales cycle | Median or typical days/months | “Reduced median cycle from 112 to 87 days” |
| Segment | SMB, mid-market, enterprise; company size | “Owned 500–5,000-employee accounts” |
| Win rate | Qualified stage to closed-won | “Raised win rate from 24% to 31%” |
| Pipeline | Created, sourced, influenced, or coverage | “Self-sourced $3.4M qualified pipeline” |
| Rank | Team size and period | “Ranked 2nd of 18 AEs in FY2025” |
| Forecast accuracy | Variance over meaningful period | “Within 8% for six consecutive quarters” |
| Expansion | Starting and ending ARR or net growth | “Expanded account from $420K to $980K ARR” |
When the exact quota is confidential, use a defensible percentage and scale band: “118% of seven-figure annual quota.” Do not label all influenced pipeline as sourced pipeline. Sales leaders notice that distinction immediately.
AE-specific ATS keywords
ATS optimization is mostly accurate vocabulary matching, not keyword confetti. Pull language from the actual role and support it in context. The resume-keyword guide covers how to do that without stuffing.
Useful account executive terms include:
- Sales motion: full-cycle sales, new business, expansion, cross-sell, upsell, outbound prospecting, account planning, territory planning, channel sales
- Process: discovery, qualification, solution selling, value selling, MEDDIC, MEDDPICC, Challenger, mutual action plan, proof of concept, proof of value
- Commercial: quota attainment, ARR, ACV, TCV, pipeline generation, forecasting, negotiation, procurement, legal review, renewal
- Stakeholders: economic buyer, champion, executive sponsor, C-suite, security, finance, legal, procurement, technical buyer
- Platforms: Salesforce, HubSpot, Gong, Outreach, Salesloft, Clari, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo
- Segments: SMB, commercial, mid-market, enterprise, strategic accounts, named accounts, vertical SaaS
Put core keywords in the summary, skills line, and achievement bullets where they naturally belong. Use a simple single-column or restrained two-column layout; ATS-friendly templates matter more than decorative sales graphics.
Common AE resume mistakes
Reporting percentages without scale
“Hit 150% of quota” sounds impressive until the reader learns it was a one-month ramp quota. Add the dollar target, annual period, and team context. Calibration builds trust.
Listing duties instead of production
“Conducted discovery, demos, and negotiations” is a job description. Lead with booked revenue, attainment, deal count, and ACV. Use duties only when the method distinguishes you.
Hiding the segment
An enterprise hiring manager cannot infer complex-sale readiness from the AE title. State company size, buyer level, cycle, stakeholder count, and review steps. An SMB hiring manager likewise wants evidence that you can maintain pace.
Treating pipeline as revenue
“Managed a $10M pipeline” does not mean you created or closed $10M. Label the relationship: generated, sourced, influenced, managed, or converted. Then show closed-won separately.
Dumping every tool into skills
Sixteen logos do not make a seller. List the relevant stack, then use one or two bullets to show how the tools improved inspection, coaching, conversion, or forecast quality.
Using unverifiable superlatives
“Top-performing,” “elite,” and “President’s Club caliber” are weaker than rank, attainment, and the award’s actual name and year. Proof beats posture.
The final test is blunt: can a sales leader identify your patch, number, deal shape, and repeatable advantage in 20 seconds? If not, do not add more adjectives. Add the missing denominator.
